In April 2009, I met John Wayne Haynes as he closed out a nearly seven-month journey on horseback from Michigan to New Mexico. A year later, I met him again to commemorate it, John riding 25 miles from his new home at Broken Saddle Ranch into the heart of Santa Fe.
